Shalok, Third Mehl: 💫
✨ Insight:
This Shalok is composed by the Third Guru, Guru Amar Das. ✨
He acts according to pre-ordained destiny, written by the Creator Himself. 💫
✨ Insight:
This line tells us that people act according to a destiny that has been set by the Creator. It suggests that there’s a divine plan behind our actions, even though on the personal level, our actions are misguided. ✨
Emotional attachment has drugged him, and he has forgotten the Lord, the treasure of virtue. 💫
✨ Insight:
The Shalok warns that emotional attachment can be like a drug that makes us forget God, who is the true treasure of all good qualities. ✨
Don’t think that he is alive in the world – he is dead, through the love of duality. 💫
✨ Insight:
This line warns that being attached to worldly things and not focusing on the One God is like being spiritually dead, even if one is physically alive. ✨
Those who do not meditate on the Lord, as Gurmukh, are not permitted to sit near the Lord. 💫
✨ Insight:
The Shalok ends by stating that without meditating on God’s name, one cannot be close to God. Being a Gurmukh—oriented towards the Guru’s teachings—is essential for this closeness. ✨
💫 Review:
This Shalok dives into the ideas of destiny, emotional attachment, and spiritual lifelessness. It suggests that our actions align with a divine plan but warns against letting emotional attachments distract us from God. The Shalok emphasizes that ignoring God’s name makes one spiritually dead and distant from the Divine. 💫
